As a public school, all DASD Cyber Academy students must meet attendance requirements handed down by the state. The flexibility and self-pacing of the DASD Cyber learning environment allows us to meet this requirement through a blend of “seat time” and progress/achievement.

The seat time recommendation for grade levels is as follows:

K-3 = 4 hours per day (M-F) or 20 hours per week (M-Sunday)
4-6 = 5 hours per day (M-F) or 25 hours per week (M-Sunday)
7-12 = 6 hours per week per course (e.g. 5 courses = 30 hours per week (M-Sunday))

While we do track time, we also realize that every student is different and requires different amounts of time to successfully progress through and complete coursework. Therefore we also check a student’s weekly progress and achievement. If a student is making weekly progress and is passing his/her coursework, attendance credit is awarded for that week. All students are expected to fully complete their assigned course work within the term assigned (trimester, year).
